I’m sure most of us can agree that new food experiences are always one of the highlights of any trip and Budapest was no different. While there, we came across four stand out places that I just have to share with you. So, if you’re planning a trip to the beauty that is Budapest I recommend that you keep on scrolling.
Ladó Café (Traditional Hungarian)
I’m starting off with my personal favourite dining experience of the trip which was Ladó Café. This is a traditional Hungarian restaurant with live jazz music and singers playing every evening from 8pm over a candlelit dinner. The atmosphere in this restaurant was truly beautiful making me feel like we took a step back in time but in the best possible way. The menu was very reasonably priced and even though there was only one vegetarian option, I couldn’t fault it. The ‘Mushroom Paprikash’ comes highly recommended by yours truly. While suitable for everyone, I feel like this restaurant is a stunning choice for a romantic date night over a glass or two of red.
Il Terzo Cerchio (Italian)
If you’re looking to satisfy that pasta or pizza craving, I’d suggest checking out Il Terzo Cerchio. An Italian restaurant with the most gorgeous vaulted stone decor. It serves a huge array of Italian pizzas, pastas and meats with a very authentic vibe to the place. Again, like most places in Budapest, this restaurant was very reasonably priced for a faultless, delicious meal.
If brunchin’ is one of your favourite hobbies then Sonkapult is worth a visit. It serves the typical brunch favourites with eggs, avocados and pancakes aplenty, accompanied by an obligatory soul fulfilling coffee. A delicious spot with an adequate selection of veggie/vegan options for any of you looking. I will mention that it is a very small space with very limited seating so as you can imagine, it can fill up very quickly. Gorgeous fresh food nonetheless.
New York Café (Breakfast/Dinner)
One of the places that I was most excited about visiting was definitely New York Café for its dreamy, extravagant decor. This place is an absolute must-visit as its just breathtaking. Even though our food was beyond disappointing (avoid the scrambled eggs), I still tell everyone that asks for Budapest recommendations to absolutely make a visit here, even be-it just for a slightly overpriced hot drink. We didn’t make a reservation and luckily got seated pretty quickly but the que grew rapidly so I’d recommend looking into making a reservation if possible.
So there you have my four recommendations for where to eat in Budapest!
Until next time,
